The 10 best school management systems for hybrid schools

Pricing verified July 2026 · written by the Pearspark team — Pearspark is #1 on this list and we say so plainly (how we compare)

The systems, ranked

1.

Pearspark

Pearspark plans the whole week, not just campus days: teachers write schedule-aware lesson plans, mark what runs at home, and parents open the week's home-day plans in their own portal — with the school controlling exactly what is shared. Underneath sits the full system: attendance on meeting days, gradebook, report cards, transcripts, tuition billing, and an installable parent app with push notifications.

Pricing: $50/mo including 20 students, then $2.50/student/mo stepping down to $1.00 at volume. No setup fees, no contract, 30-day free trial.

Setup is self-serve, with importers that preview every row before anything is written — no setup fees, and free email support when you're stuck.

2.

Gradelink

A well-established student information system popular with private and faith-based schools.

Why it's on this list: Gradelink handles the school half of a hybrid competently — SIS, gradebook, parent access — and many hybrid academies run it, pairing it with separate tools for home-day plans.

At 25 students: $121/mo + $275 setup (≤50 tier) · at 100: $164/mo + $275 setup (51–100 tier)

3.

Alma SIS

A modern, well-reviewed K-12 SIS serving independent, charter, and district schools.

Why it's on this list: Alma's flexible scheduling and modern gradebook fit programs with unconventional calendars, which hybrid schedules are.

4.

Google Classroom

Google's free assignment and classwork platform — an LMS, not a school information system.

Why it's on this list: Many hybrids bolt Google Classroom onto their SIS for the home days: assignments posted where parents can see them. It is free and it works, at the cost of running two systems that never agree about the same week.

When it's the better choice: As the home-day layer over an SIS you already own, free is hard to argue with — as long as you can live with two systems that never agree about the same week: parents check both, and neither holds the whole record.

5.

FACTS SIS (formerly RenWeb)

The enterprise suite for private K-12 — SIS, tuition management, and financial aid under one roof.

Why it's on this list: FACTS appears here because established hybrid academies of 200+ students inherit it, and its tuition and aid machinery is real. The home-day half still needs solving elsewhere.

When it's the better choice: At enterprise size, with dedicated staff and need-assessed aid, FACTS's depth is the point and its procurement process stops mattering.

6.

TeacherEase

A standards-based learning platform and gradebook priced per teacher.

Why it's on this list: University-model schools that grade on standards get a standards-first gradebook here, with parents reading progress from home.

At 25 students: ≈$44–73/mo (3–5 teachers) · at 100: ≈$117–176/mo (8–12 teachers)

Full comparison: Pearspark vs TeacherEase
7.

ThinkWave

A budget-friendly cloud SIS with gradebooks, report cards, and transcripts — plus a free single-teacher gradebook.

Why it's on this list: ThinkWave covers report cards and transcripts for a hybrid academy documenting home-and-campus work on a small budget.

At 25 students: Tiered — from ~$17/mo · at 100: Tiered by enrollment

Full comparison: Pearspark vs ThinkWave
8.

Sycamore School

An all-in-one K-12 SIS priced per student, popular with independent schools.

Why it's on this list: Sycamore's breadth covers a hybrid's office affordably; the home-day half still lives in email or a second tool.

At 25 students: $100/mo · at 100: $400/mo

Full comparison: Pearspark vs Sycamore
9.

SchoolCues

An all-in-one system for small schools with a wide module list and a published monthly floor rather than a rate card.

Why it's on this list: SchoolCues handles the communication load a two-campus-day week generates, at prices sized for a program's first years.

At 25 students: From $75/mo (no per-student rate published) · at 100: From $75/mo (no per-student rate published)

10.

Jupiter Ed

A gradebook-centered LMS/SIS used across K-12, priced per student per year with a school minimum.

Why it's on this list: Jupiter Ed gives hybrid teachers a serious gradebook parents can read on home days, without an office system attached.

At 25 students: ≈$42/mo ($500/yr minimum) · at 100: ≈$58–83/mo ($7–10/student/yr)

How we ranked this list

  • Lesson plans parents can actually see and run on home days
  • Schedules, attendance, and planning that understand classes meeting 2–3 days a week
  • A parent portal that treats parents as co-teachers, not spectators
  • Full school records underneath — report cards, transcripts, billing — so the hybrid is still a school

Why hybrid schools need a different list

A hybrid school teaches part of the week on campus and hands the rest to parents at home. Software built for five-day schools fails at the seam: the home days. Parents need to see actual lesson plans — not just grades after the fact — and teachers need attendance, gradebook, and planning that understand a two- or three-day meeting schedule.

This list ranks systems by how well they hold both halves of the week together, because the campus half is a solved problem and the home half is where hybrid programs actually live.

Common questions

What software works for a university-model or hybrid school?

The requirement that eliminates most systems is home-day lesson visibility: parents need the actual plan for the days they teach, not a grade portal. Look for schedule-aware planning that supports classes meeting 2–3 days a week and a parent portal that shows shared lesson plans; most conventional SIS products assume five-day attendance and grade-visibility-only parents.

How do hybrid schools take attendance?

On meeting days, like any school — the system just has to know which days those are for each class. Pearspark's schedules understand per-class meeting patterns, so attendance only expects students on days their classes actually meet.

Can parents see lesson plans in a school management system?

Usually not — most parent portals show grades, attendance, and announcements only. Pearspark lets teachers mark lesson plans as shared to the family portal, per class and per week, so hybrid parents run home days from the teacher's actual plan.
